SMI Aluminum Roll Jacketing is manufactured from 3003 Alloy H-14 or 3105 Alloy in conformance with ASTM B-209 and ANSI H35-2. The 3003 alloy contains .12% Copper and 1.2% Manganese which allows for easy bending and shaping.
SMI Stainless Steel Jacketing is manufactured from T304 stainless. T304 contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel whereas T316 contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel and 2-3% molybdenum. T316 is available on request for extremely corrosive environments.
SMI Deep Corrugated Sheets are made in Lehighton, PA, and available in virtually any alloy, thickness, and style. They provide protection for insulated equipment, towers, vessels and tanks with outside diameters greater than 8’. Use in an approved system is recommended, please contact us for engineering support. All products generally come in a standard mill finish, but bright annealed is available by special order. The products are sold in rolls of 50’ to 100’ depending on thickness. Custom roll lengths are available on request. The product is available with polyethylene/kraft, PolySurlynTM, or no vapor retarder as per customer request.
SMI Aluminum and Stainless Steel Jackets are recommended to help protect insulated pipe and tank systems from mechanical damage and weather intrusion when installed in a properly designed system. Standard nominal thicknesses are .016”, .020”, .024”, .032” and are available in three styles: Stucco Embossed (SE), 3/16” Corrugated (CO), and Smooth (SM).
